I often half jokingly tell people it is a good thing I don’t work in a donut shop, or I would be as wide as the door frame. Their response is usually, “you would tire of eating donuts everyday” or some such nonsense. Having worked in our family’s steakhouse, The Hitching Post, for 40 years, I have never tired of steak! With business plan in hand, HP owner Bill Ostini’s daughter Stacey Ostini Mosti, presented her vision of taking the steak business to a new level. Her concept was much different than Omaha Steaks, Allen Brothers and others in the food shipping industry. Instead of shipping raw steaks for the end consumer to cook, The Hitching Post barbecues and seasons these steaks over a live oakwood fire (known as Santa Maria Style BBQ), flash freezes them and ships the items 2nd day air.

DITTO! I must admit that I am also blessed to have been born in this family and raised eating these amazing steaks:) I just won't bother ordering steak at any other restaurant because it is always a disappointment. I just wanted to share this little story...
ReplyDeleteLast December I was flown in from Texas to work with my sister, Terri and niece, Stacey to work a booth for BBQ2YOU at the Cowboy Christmas in Las Vegas. Although it was alot of work, it was an unforgetable experience. For ten days straight, eight hours a day, I had the pleasure of watching people from all over the United States taste Hitching Post steaks for the first time. They would just get so excited!!! I had worked at the restaurant for over 20 years and customers would rave how delicious their dinners were.... but this time I got to watch them as they put the bite into their mouth and watch their eyes get all big as they chewed in amazement at this piece of heaven in their mouth. They were really shocked when we told them that it was barbequed two weeks earlier and that it was frozen just 20 minutes ago! They wanted more, they wanted to go get their spouses, friends, and family to come over and taste it. Then I'd get to watch all over again! I sure did have fun!! I know my dad, who passed over 30 years ago is looking down and smiling!
